The UNEP-convened Climate and Clean Air Coalition “stands ready to meet one-on-one with countries to discuss priorities and needs and help develop the most efficient methane mitigation strategies.” Jurisdictions can benefit from methane-focused “hubs” for waste, agriculture, and fossil fuels.

The Global Methane Hub is the primary conduit for philanthropic methane funding worldwide. They aim to deliver $1 billion in methane funding by 2030, including through programs supporting governments at all levels.

The Methane Regulator-to-Regulator (MR2R) Network is a peer-to-peer platform created by the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) to help fossil fuel regulators share experience, develop best practices, and strengthen methane regulation through trusted collaboration. 

The Fossil Fuel Regulatory Programme will support up to 20 developing country governments from mid-2024 to mid-2027, with tailored support for capacity development, regulatory frameworks, and enforce compliance with existing frameworks.  

The Global Methane Pledge (GMP) was launched at COP26 by the European Union and the United States who have been joined by many countries. The GMP today counts 159 participating countries and the European Commission. 

The Oil & Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) is the flagship oil and gas reporting and mitigation programme of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). It is the only comprehensive, measurement-based international reporting framework for the sector.

The UN Environment Programme’s International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) manages the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0). Through the partnership, OGMP 2.0 member companies commit to measuring and reporting methane emissions from their activities across the supply chain, forming a robust, empirical basis for understanding methane emissions and progress towards mitigation targets.
